Steel, Shadow of the Bat, & Aquaman
Convergence: Superman: Man of Steel #2– I wanted to care but the issue was just uninteresting. The introduction of Parasite as a mid-conflict is a waste of space that makes no sense, introducing this random techno-organic suit that has melded with Steel is…..why? And the conflict with Gen13 ends just as abruptly as it began. As a fan who actually has liked Steel and Gen13 in the past, I still have to ask why I had to read this? What did it bring to the table?

Chrononauts, Spider-Gwen, RUNLOVEKILL, & Pastaways
Chrononauts #3– Heaven help me, a Mark Millar comic might have been the best thing I’ve read for the entire week. Although when the comparison is the entirety of Convergence, it probably didn’t have to try very hard. Still, this was an extremely enjoyable issue, no small part due to Sean Murphy’s artwork. After the drudgery of mainstream superhero comics I’ve been treading through, this was a funny bit of fresh air with gorgeous artwork and I am thankful for it.

Secret Wars Main
Secret Wars #2– So while #1 was about things blowing up and the death of the Marvel Universe as we knew it, #2 is pure What If/Elseworlds and I found it to be glorious. Doom is God and has recreated the world through sheer force of will, but it’s sort of a mess and leaves you to wonder how much control he really has. Like, why would you really want to include the endless hordes of zombies, Ultrons, and the Annihilation Wave in your utopia world?
