- Reading Pile: 5/6/15
Shaper, All-New Captain America, Surface, & Howard the Duck
Shaper #2– Ok, it kind of pisses me off that Felipe Massafera isn’t drawing this issue or any of the rest of the series. I never saw an announcement, so finally opening up this issue to discover a completely different artist just sucks. Ace Continuado is fine, and his style stays in tone to the story, but he’s just not as polished or finished as Massafera was.
- Secret Infinite Convergence War…of Stuff…and Things Pt 21
Plastic Man, Infinity Inc, & Detective Comics
Convergence: Plastic Man and The Freedom Fighters #1– I actually don’t have much to say on this book. It was interesting enough, and John McCrea’s artwork was an oddly good choice for the content, being both dark and cartoony at the same time. I’ve never cared much for the Freedom Fighters, but when used right they can be engaging.

Resident Alien, Injustice, & Ultron Forever
Resident Alien: The Sam Hain Mystery #0– I have loved all the previous instalments of Resident Alien so I’m biased towards enjoying this no matter what. There’s just some sort of perfect balance between Peter Hogan’s scripting and Steve Parkhouse’s art that pulls me in and makes the book really engaging. Part of what I also love is that the series operates on a slow pace, taking it’s time to develop the overall plot along with the smaller stories of each series.
- Secret Infinite Convergence War…of Stuff…and Things Pt 20
World's Finest & SHAZAM
This block of Convergence is a little bit more randomized, focusing on a range of alternate timelines instead of focusing on one core one like pre-52 or pre-Zero Hour. The one that gets the most time though is Pre-Crisis Earth 2 Metropolis, which in itself is a bit confusing if you aren’t an old-hat DC reader (And even then, it’s still convoluted).
