Squidder & 100th Anniversary Spider-Man
Squidder #1– An interesting start, but the entire book left me wondering what it would look like if Templesmith did it in black and white. There a B&W alternate cover that looks great, and while I can appreciate his coloring I actually think it detracts from his art quite a bit. There are sequences in this issue that are a narrative mess to look at and I just don’t think he’s great with action sequences. Moody supernatural overtones? Fantastic.

Dark Engine, Infinite Crisis, GotG, & The Wicked and the Divine
Dark Engine #1– I think it’s a little too early for me to really tell on this issue. The art was interesting, sort of a cleaner mix between Paul Pope and Emma Rios. The story was more intent on setting tone than plot, which isn’t a terrible way to go if you want to showcase John Bivens’ art style. The set-up is sort of a demonic dark-fantasy time travel story so it’s definitely interesting at least.
